Caroline Ouellette Named 2008-09 CWHL Most Valuable Player
Jun 18, 2009
Montreal, QC

Montréal Stars' forward Caroline Ouellette has been selected the Most Valuable Player for the 2008-09 Canadian Women's Hockey League season.
The 30-year old star led her team to a first-place finish with a league-record 25 wins. Ouellette led the league with 33 assists and finished second with 26 goals, 59 points and a 2.46 points-per-game average.

Ouellette was recognized as the CWHL Most Valuable Player ahead of runner up Jayna Hefford. It was the league's six captains that submitted votes for the Most Valuable Player.

Ouellette was the CWHL's Top Scorer in November and December. She helped the Stars set a league record with nine-straight wins from 11 October through 22 December. She also set a league record by scoring at least one point in 18 consecutive games, stretching a streak from 18 October through 18 January 2009. In all, she scored a point in 22 of her 24 regular-season games.

Of course, after a tremendous regular season, Ouellette led the Stars to a playoff championship in Kingston. Ouellette and the Stars defeated the Minnesota Whitecaps in the 21 March final to win the inaugural edition of the Clarkson Cup.
