Thanks so much for your interest in the world’s highest caliber women’s hockey league. This is a very exciting time for women’s hockey! Our league is going through a bit of a restructuring phase and we are in the midst of attempting to structure the league to allow the best players in the world a place to play and prosper.
Our board of directors has created a plan that will initially create a five team league with a team in Montreal, a team in Boston, and three teams in the Greater Toronto area.
The Montreal and Boston teams will be an open tryout, whereas there will be a draft for all new players wishing to play in the Toronto area with a tryout to follow.
To submit your name to be a general manager, please fill out the application and submit to the executive director cwhled@owha.on.ca by June 15th. GM Job Description
To submit your name to be a coach, please fill out the application and submit to the executive director cwhled@owha.on.ca by June 30th. Coach Job Description.
To have your name entered into the draft as a player for one of the three Toronto teams, or to try out for the Montreal or Boston teams, please have your name added to the CWHL list by filling out the application and emailing it to the executive director cwhled@owha.on.ca by July 16th.
This is the first time a draft has been administered in the CWHL. Up to 5 players will be protected by the three CWHL teams (coaches and GM’s) in the Greater Toronto Area. An evaluation skate will be held in July for coaches/GM’s to evaluate prospective players. Date TBA. The skate will not be mandatory but will serve to rank players for the draft. At the conclusion of player ranking, the first CWHL draft will then occur, date TBA. First selections in the draft will go to a team that has not protected their allotted 5 players thus serving to equalize the teams. The remainder of the draft will consist of drafting players that have submitted their forms to the CWHL indicating they would like to play on one of the three Greater Toronto Teams.
Tryouts will then occur for all CWHL teams in September, dates TBA. Players may tryout for other teams once released from their original team.
After your application is received, the CWHL will be in touch with an email with more details when they become available.
** Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applications and resumes will be handled in the strictest confidence, with all material submitted becoming the property of the CWHL.
